When I planned this trip, this day was originally going to end in Mapleton. I had a Mapleton Air B-n-B reserved and paid. But a few months later, I was informed that they were cancelling my reservation. It turns out that there is nothing else to rent in Mapleton, no Air B-n-B, bed and breakfast or motel. So the trip plan changed and we spent this evening in Florence. It made for a short ride today (and a longer ride the following day).
With just 38 miles to cover to reach Florence, we took our time on the ride, stopping at the viewpoints (and, of course, the coffee stops).
The Spouting Horn looks like a brief geyser when wave action forces water up through a hole in the rock. When the water sprays out, I briefly saw a rainbow in the droplets.
Another afternoon tailwind allowed us to sail into Florence. The Air B-n-B had a little grill, but no fuel, so we walked into town and ate at the Firehouse Restaurant.
We rode to Florence today.
